Connect With Other

Hello, Everybody, thanks to visit my blog again.

I want to tell about something, something we get from new way to connect with other.

Now, facebook has became inseverable from lifestyle of mostly people who connected with internet.

By facebook, many people become connected each other, it could be someone meet his/her old friend by this, make a new friendship with someone who is not known. Black skin white skin, Asian or American, good people and bad people, you can make friendship.

And I always interest to make a new friendship with other people from other country. I do it, beside to know other world, I can exercise and improve my English. I got friends from some countries and different language. Sometimes I chat with friend who can’t speak English, but I try to use google translator for other language. But Sometimes I use it to English also.. hehehe… I’ve friends from cross continent. But one thing I know, some friends from Europe and Mid East never talk in English, they so much appreciate their language, or they feel no necessary to learn English (world) language or they won’t to talk with stranger, whatever the reason, that’s their business.

Among which always greet and chat with me, there’re from Morocco, Maldives, USA, Holland, Columbia, and Czech. It will always found something difficult to start a conversation, because we are different, different native language, culture, religion, and age. Sometimes, after greeting, we don’t know what  topic to tell. Sometimes, we get an interesting topic to talk about something accidentally. After that we can talk many topics, from simple topic until world news.

R. Denson, is my friend from New York, USA. He’s a writer for one of famous media online. I think he always interest with Asia. He posted something about Islam, care with acid attack in South Asia, and others. From Him, I know not all American hate Muslim, we always caught up with prejudices. Make a new friendship from others, we can straighten prejudice. 

My other friend, P. Košek, He’s from Czech, Eastern Europe. Than others, I always chat with him. Just so you know, I often use google translator to ensure if I doubt. He still study at school, He’s younger than me. We talk many topics, about valentine, and why it became something controversy in Muslim people. He said that, valentine is Europe culture, but not like now. Now, Valentine become a commercial by American people.

“many people hate this holiday (valentine’s day), because its commercial thing and it came from USA, valentine was roman priest, but Americans celebrate it,” 

So I asked,“is it culture from old rome..?”

He said “yeah, but Romans didn’t celebrate it. its something like halloween..we don’t celebrate it too, its American holiday, so... but we have "day of spirits". it has nothing to do with parties or something...families visits graves of their family and they put on grave candle or flower, its day for remind our ancestors”

From him, I get the answer from native European about valentine’s day. Also, about veil (Jilbab or hijab in Islam) for woman, he saw my post on facebook about veil in Russia, and he translated because my post in Bahasa.

He said that “wearing veils on head is old fashion in Europe our grandmums wore it to hide their white hair and they didn’t need to make hairdressing its old women fashion...in Czech R. you can still see it especially in villages”.

So I explained that veil one of controversial in many region of Islamic country and becomes problem in Europe, especially in France. As we know, France is very secular country, and banned religion symbols at school and government area, including veil. Whereas in Islam, Woman has to wear veil to keep her.

But He explained that its forbidden in schools or somewhere, where are rules for behavior, in their culture is not decently wearing caps, hats or something somewhere it shows any respect to other person, so this is reason.

He said “i am very tolerant,  but we have another culture, so people  from other countries must count with it, that’s hard for them (Muslim women).  if I have this habit, i wouldn’t move to Europe country, where I know, that’s not allowed”

Muslim Woman reject ban of veil in England

This is one of original opinion from European about veil (hijab). So, I know what’s in their mind about Muslim, and what should Muslim do so that they understand and accept different thing.

Like Hanum Rais said in her book, that as Muslim we should be agent of mercy. We should play a role in world peace, rather than as a vandal atmosphere.

In another time, I and Košek talk about food, I gave him some photos about Indonesian menu, but he said that in his town, no one Asian food. He wants try eat insect fried, maybe he looked at Thailand film about that… hahaha.. I will never to eat that, I tell him.

He always asked me “you can’t drink alcohol, right?” . So, I tell him “I can’t drink alcohol and pork”

He intends me something from Czech, maybe foodstuff or something. But he is not sure, whether it can arrive safely or not. But, maybe I will send him something to him, but I still think, what is the appropriate representation of Indonesia. Any suggestion?

I like making a new friendship which can give something different, we are not just, say hello, and forget it. By internet we can make a connection with other people in another place in the world.

Especially for myself, I have no family in Batam, but I get friends like brother and sister in Batam from internet. They from my hometown too,  and they become my new family here, I can feel right at home, although I’m so far from my family. So, use internet for good thing, and more better if it gives you improvement for your life.
